Anonymous visit counts

What is counted

Each time a page on erioun.com opens, one is added to that day's total for:

• The page, written as a template: an application page counts as /app/applications/:id, and a link that carries a code or an invitation counts without it.
• Whether the visit started on that page and, if another website sent you, that site's name only — for example google.com — never the page you were on.
• The country, as our network provider (Cloudflare) reports it.
• The kind of device (desktop, mobile or tablet), the browser and its main version (for example Firefox 133) and the operating system (for example Android).

What is never counted

The counter is built so that none of this can reach it:

• Your IP address. It is not read for counting, not stored and not passed on.
• Your browser's full signature (its User-Agent). It is read only to recognise crawlers and to fill in the three device fields above, then dropped.
• The address of the page you came from, search terms, campaign tags (UTMs) or anything else in a link's query.
• Anything on the pages where you apply for a job, answer an interview or sign an offer, or on pages opened from a signed email link: they are not counted at all.
• Prefetches — pages your browser loads in advance but you have not opened — refreshes of the page you are on, and crawlers and bots.

No identifier of any kind

Counting sets no cookie and computes no identifier, fingerprint or hash. Two page views can never be linked to each other or to you — not even to tell whether they came from the same person — which is why these numbers have no 'visitors', only page views. Nothing counted here is ever joined to an Erioun account.

Why, and for how long

To see which pages help people and where visits come from, so we can improve the site. The daily totals are kept on Erioun's own servers for 25 months, then deleted. They are never sold or shared. Signed-in accounts have their own, separate switch for service analytics in Settings → Privacy.

Your right to object

Press 'Don't count my visits' above and this browser is left out from the next page on; 'Undo' puts it back. The choice is kept in one first-party cookie, erioun_count_optout, for 13 months. It is strictly necessary to honour your objection, holds nothing but the value 1, and applies to this browser only — clearing your cookies clears it. Nothing else is stored.
